Back to blogging (I missed it). First up on the agenda is bloggin about my solo exhibition at The College of New Jersey (forgot I go there lol). After the show install is complete I will talk about my student teaching experience (first day is September 4).
Back in March/April of this year I applied for one of the student gallery spots in the fall semester. TCNJ has two smaller galleries that students can apply to use once during the spring and once during the fall. I decided to apply and submit a gallery proposal and wouldn't ya know, I got picked as one of the fall exhibitions. Yay me! But really what were they thinking allowing me to have my own gallery space?! ;)
So over the next ten days or so I will be showing my progress of the show install.
Opening reception is September 3 from 5-7pm...come say hi! :)
My inspiration for this show is of course lines. I'm continuing with my theme that I have been exploring for the past year or so. The entire gallery is going to be a series of lines created by masking tape. If everything goes well- you will be able to follow the same line throughout the entire exhibit-- pretty cool.
Just like my previous work, I wanted to highlight the architecture and play with the existing structure of the gallery.
Another HUGE thank you to my brother Erik for helping me figure out the geometry and angles on this section...Needless to say I barely passed geometry in high school, and couldn't figure it out on my own. Job offer to someone to help me with this in the future if/when I become famous.
