WELCOME BACK! yay!
Back to school. Finally.
Started off with my first day at my high school placement. My co-operating teacher was sick on Monday (my original first day) and we had a snow day yesterday (Tuesday), so here we are Wednesday on our first day. Little did I know however my first week is midterms week at the high school. So not much action going on this week.
Today we had a drawing midterm and then two classes after the exam periods. Easy day. Turns out many kids on the midterm failed the one-point and two-point perspective portion of it. Yikes. But from what I hear from other art teachers in the area, kids aren't grasping concepts such as perspective and how to use a ruler as easy as they once were. Hmmmm wonder why.
Anywho, half days for me the rest of the week! yay!
My co-op is also a practicing artist himself and is very serious about his work outside of the classroom (which I love). He was in 20 shows in 2014 (I had 9), so I think he is going to be a good guy to get to know and someone who can help me out with my own art as well.
During the next 15 weeks of this student teaching experience I'm also going to be documenting (just a quick sentence) what I want to do upon graduation. It literally changes daily, so just for myself (and anyone else who is reading this), I'm curious how my mind will change throughout the next couple months. I think I'm going to call it, "I'm feeling: _____." I've always had a love for these charts. I think because it was in a few of my elementary school classrooms growing up and I always caught myself staring at it. I don't know why but I'm fascinated by that little picture frame window that would come with it and you could move it to frame your mood for the day. I love projects or experiments that involve a daily log or ritual.
I'm feeling: Museum educator and feeling grad school this week.
