This was my last week at the high school. On Monday I start fresh at the elementary school. It was a fairly good week. Many students did not finish their projects before I left. So I only have in progress photos.
On Friday we had a professional development day for teachers, and it was put on by a teacher from California who is also an author. His lecture was titled, "Teach Like a Pirate." It was very inspirational and a great introduction to making lesson planning more about experiences for the students instead of a boring lecture style. Gave me a lot of ideas and hopefully I can implement some during my elementary school placement coming up next.
These are some of the animal paintings in progress.
My student of the month board completed. I picked four students total. Two from drawing classes and two from painting classes.
Here are some of the metamorphosis projects either almost completed for completed. These came out great I'm happy with the creativity.
This week we had our last short class and I introduced the class to some more contemporary artists. We talked about Alexa Meade, Ingrid Calame, and Sol LeWitt. We then created a post-it noteinstruction drawing inspired by Sol LeWitt. In one of the classes we even created a mini mural inspired by Sol LeWitt as well.
1. On the post-it, place three dots at random.
2. Connect all of the dots with a straight line to form a shape.
3. Inside of that shape, draw a circle.
4. Shade in with pencil that cirle.
5. Towards the bottom of the post- it, draw two parallel lines running horizontally.
6. Draw an "X" somewhere on the post-it.
7. Draw one thick vertical line.
8. Draw one square.
Here is the completion of the post-it installation. I'm very happy with the results! :)
I also went to another exhibition opening this week. A printmaking, youth art month, and installation were the three main shows in this event.
Peace out high school. On to elementary school starting tomorrow. Half way done!!!
